RoukenBio, AVS Bio Form Antibody‑Development Partnership

Aims to streamline the development of therapeutic antibodies by combining discovery, optimization and early functional testing into a single, integrated workflow.

RoukenBio and AVS Bio have formed a strategic partnership aimed at streamlining the development of therapeutic antibodies by combining discovery, optimization and early functional testing into a single, integrated workflow.

AVS Bio, which focuses on design‑driven antibody discovery, will contribute its platforms for generating broad candidate diversity—including single‑B‑cell, phage display and hybridoma technologies—as well as its in‑silico optimization tools used to assess developability and suitability for clinical advancement.

RoukenBio will provide functional characterization capabilities using engineered cell systems and primary human immune‑cell models. The company specializes in immune‑mediated disease biology, including immuno‑oncology, autoimmunity, allergy and inflammation, and evaluates mechanisms of action and downstream signaling in biologically relevant systems.

The companies said the combined approach is intended to give drug developers earlier insight into mechanistic behavior, improving lead selection and reducing the risk that candidates advance with insufficient functional validation—a common contributor to late‑stage failures.

The partnership is also designed to support more data‑driven decision‑making from early discovery through IND‑enabling studies.

“By partnering with AVS Bio, we are integrating high-quality antibody discovery with early, mechanism-driven functional characterization in complex and primary immune cell systems, enabling more informed candidate selection and materially reducing translational risk before programs enter IND-enabling development,” said Adele Hannigan, Chief Business Officer at RoukenBio.

“We are excited to partner with RoukenBio to enhance data-driven lead antibody selection through early, mechanism-focused functional insights, ultimately enabling our customers and partners to make better-informed decisions throughout their therapeutic antibody development journey,” added Ilse Roodink, Chief Scientific Officer at AVS Bio.
